Jared Wood Home Family Career Hobbies Memories Events Observations

This site is set up as a blog for me, Jared Wood, to write my experiences so they can be shared with my friends and family. It is organized so that topics run down the left side and chronological entries down the middle. Website tools and information are on the right.

Family

My wife and I have have put together a wonderful family We have four beautiful daughters and I love them all so much. I grew up in Visalia, CA and moved to Provo, UT in 1992 to start college. I served as an LDS missionary for 2 years in Sweden and moved back to Provo in 1995. A year later, I got married and lived in Orem while finishing school, then in 2002 our little family moved to Sandy, UT.

Memories

In this section, I am writing stories from when I was a boy. This is Megan's favorite part to my website. Hopefully I will be able to fill it with lots of memories.

Career

I am a sofware engineer at Rescue Alert. We build and monitor Medical Alert Systems, aka Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS). They are devices that make it easy for your mom & dad or your grandparents to call for help if they fall.

Hobbies

For Christmas of 2003 Santa brought me an RC Airplane. It was a .40 sized trainer. I saved up enough extra money during the following Jan, Feb,and March to buy the engine and radio. And now I go flying as often as I can.

Gerbils

Blackie the GerbilWhen my oldest daughter turned 7, she got a couple of gerbils for her birthday. If you are contemplating getting small pets, these entries might be interesting to you.

World Events

This should actually be titled "Events in My World" but that wouldn't fit in 200 pixels. This is the place where I have written my thoughts about things that have happened during my lifetime.

Book of Mormon Timeline

I made this timeline showing the events of the Book of Mormon. It has the ages of prominent people during each event and who the king or chief judge was at the time. I had fun making it. Hope you enjoy reading through it.

Hello David Fondell!

I met David 12 years ago while serving a mission in Sweden. Apparently he found my website last week and liked it enough to try to get my attention. It worked! (take a look at the donation chart) David, I'll be sending you an email soon and writing about you, Calle, and Markus here on the website soon. Thanks for contacting me! Say hello to Calle, Ellinor, and Markus for me.

We love camping!

I have been so negligent about writing to this thing! But, I'm back with an entry from this past summer. Camping with my girls is a yearly tradition. This was the first year for Jessica and we had lots of fun.

Donations are Alive!

The top donations chart has been dormant for several months, but today it burst into life with a kind donation from my old elementary school friend, Geoff Sanders. If you've read the exploding egg story in my memories section, then you'll remember Geoff.

At the same time, we lament that Brett Hibbert has been bumped off the top donations list ...... sorry Brett.

We Welcome Ninja to our Family

With the recent death of Jingles, a trip to the pet store was in order. Follow this link to meet our new gerbil, Ninja.

Jingles The Gerbil Has Died

We had a death in the family. Megan's gerbil, Jingles died and was buried today. Jingle's Funeral.

My Dinosaur Theory

There are all kinds of dinosaur theories out there and 3 years ago I came up with my own original idea about it. Now remember, it's just for fun. Here is the story of how I came up with my theory of why dinosaurs where put on the Earth.

You Never Forget it

Many things are like learning to ride a bike; once you learn how, you always keep the ability. Well in this case, Jessica has actually learned to ride a bike. Jessica's Bike Riding

Hannah is Potty Trained!

... or almost anyway. She is out of diapers regardless. Everyone is welcome to give Hannah a phone call and congratulate her for being a big girl. Potty Training

Update Tue 1/24/2006
Hannah is officially potty trained. She went all day yesterday with no accidents, and today she told Catherine that she needed to go potty, and did so, while they were at Walmart!

Unicycle Skill Levels

The Unicycling Society of America tests and certifies 10 skill levels. I am working on the requirements for skill level two now. Unicycle Skills

Practical Unicycle Practice

To be completely honest, when I woke up Christmas morning and saw the unicycle in the living room my first thought was, "Wow, the unicycle I asked for. What in the world am I going to do with that?" Well I am please to inform you that I am making progress in my practicing, and have discovered that in the not to far distant future I will be able to use my unicycle for some very effective exercise. Unicycle Progress

Katrina, Rita & Wilma

I am really late with this one. I mean the hurricanes happened last year. But then again, I am still planning to write my memories of the tsunami and the space shuttle accidents in the events section. I'll just put them in order even though I didn't write them in order. I figure that 20 years from now, my children won't care what order I wrote them in. Here is my entry on the 2005 hurricanes.

Advertisements Removed!

I used the $8.24 from the donations to this website, plus some Christmas money to remove the advertisements from each of my web pages. Now you can visit without the adds surrounding my content and without those annoying pop-ups. Thank you to every one who pitched in. Oh, and if you want to pitch in and have it counted retroactively, feel free!

Happy Birthday Jessica!

... and happy birthday to Sarah too! Jessica is 5 years old today. She has grown into an amazingly cute and happy girl. Today the training wheels came off her bike, offering more proof that she just keeps growing up. Tonight we will have cake, ice cream, and presents. I love you Jessica.

Have You Ever Microwaved an Egg?

I have. It was 15 years ago, but what happened is good enough to make it into my memories section. Take a look.

How to Ride a Unicyle

I got a unicycle for Christmas. It is my new exercise machine. It is a good work out to ride that thing for just 15 minutes. If you're interested, you can keep up with how my unicyling is coming along in the hobbies section.

Bethany's Baby Blessing

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped out with Bethany's blessing. It was a marvelous day and we were so pleased to share it with all of you. I'll see if I can't remember to post a picture of her in her blessing dress up here.

New Look & Feel for the Website
